Rusava lies in the deep valley of the Rusava stream in the north-western part of the Hostýn Hills. It had 579 inhabitants in 2025.

The village was first mentioned in 1657 and was called Rotalovice until 1924. Rusava has the Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, dating from 1777–1779, and an Evangelical church built between 1865 and 1883. Kašpar Villa was built in 1933–1934.
