Kašava lies in the deep valley of the Dřevnice in the Valašsko region. Kopná (674 m) rises above the surrounding hills. The first mention of the village dates to 1440.

The Baroque Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was built in 1745 thanks to Count Seilern, on the site of an older wooden church. The educational trail around Kašava, completed in 2013, is 17.5 km long, with 11 stops and 14 Stations of the Cross. Orlovna cultural hall was built in 1929. Kašava won the national round of the Village of the Year 2016 competition; the results were announced in Luhačovice.
